Greeting of MSK chairman Christoph Dellmann
Dear minigolf friends, dear guests
When we received an inquiry from the German Minigolf Sports Association over two years ago, asking if we could imagine hosting the 2025 Minigolf World Championship for men and women, we were initially surprised. Our second reaction was pride, followed by questions about whether we should accept the responsibility and whether we had the confidence to host it.
We successfully managed eight German championships in the last years, but the World Cup Championships is, of course, a completely different story.
First off, we had to postpone the idea so that everybody could think it through.
After some time, we held our first board meeting on the topic.
It was important for me right from the start that the board must be unanimous in favor for this event. If even one person voted against it, the World Championships would not take place in Neheim. It took three board meetings and two video calls with the German Minigolf Sports Association in total, until all board members agreed to carry out the World Championships in Neheim.
Then soon preparations started. Where would we accommodate the approximately 200 participants from at least 20 nations? We wanted a World Cup with short distances, so we held discussions with hotels in the immediate vicinity. Both the Rodelhaus and the Dorint Hotel (now Fletcher) assured us of sufficient room allocations. The opening ceremony at the Neheim open air swimming pool is within walking distance, and a shuttle service was organized for the closing ceremony at the Herdringen Schützenhalle.
A lot of work also has been done to improve viewing. For example, parts of the area were leveled and a new spectator area was created. Now it's possible to walk all the way around the facility to watch from all sides. A terrace, where the greenhouse will be located and where the race will be launched, and a platform for the medal ceremony also have been built.
With just under half a year to go before the World Championships, we feel we're on track with our planning, and the fine-tuning is underway.
Our goal is to host the best Minigolf World Championships ever.
To achieve this goal, we will, as always, be very welcoming, generous, and helpful.
If the weather gods will be kind, this project will succeed!
We wish all participants and guests a wonderful and unforgettable stay in the beautiful Sauerland region. I remain with you, hoping for many spectators.
