History of the Minigolf World Championships
From the early 1960's the organized minigolf sport had only known European Championships. The time had finally come in 1991. The first Minigolf World Championships took place in Oslo, Denmark. The champions were:
Women's team: Germany
Men's team: Switzerland
Women's individual championships: Miranda Graf (SUI)
Men's individual championships: Raffael Nösberger (SUI)
In the following years, the number of participants continued to grow. At the last World Championships in Germany, held in 2013 in Bad Münder, 28 nations from all over the world participated in the competition, among them smaller or new minigolf nations such as Japan, Thailand, China, Taiwan, India and Kosovo.
The most recent World Championships took place in 2023 in Uppsala (SWE) on the felt golf and miniature golf systems. The competition in all categories turned into a duel between the host nation Sweden and co-favorite Germany, who divided the titles among themselves:
Women's team: Germany
Men's team: Sweden
Mixed Pairs: Carl-Johan Ryner / Karin Olsson (SWE)
Men's individual strokeplay championships: Ulf Kristiansson (SWE)
Women's individual strokeplay championships: Stefanie Blendermann (GER)
Men's individual matchplay championships: Lukas Neumann (GER)
Women's individual matchplay championships: Melanie Hammerschmidt (GER)
The minigolf center in Arnsberg-Neheim includes the concrete and miniature golf systems. In this combination, alongside Sweden and Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Italy are also among the favorites this year. As hosts, we look forward to exciting, fair, and high-level minigolf competitions.
